Autism, WHAT IS IT?

Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. It is a spectrum disorder, meaning that the symptoms and severity can vary greatly between individuals.

Some common symptoms of autism include difficulty with social interactions, delayed language development, repetitive behaviors or routines, difficulty with sensory processing, and difficulty with nonverbal communication such as maintaining eye contact or understanding facial expressions.

Autism is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. There is no known cure for autism, but early intervention and therapy can greatly improve outcomes for individuals with the disorder. Treatment may involve speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, and medication in some cases.

It is important to note that individuals with autism have unique strengths and abilities, and with proper support and accommodations, they can lead fulfilling lives and make valuable contributions to society.
